The seats are also limited. Do you think M.Tech in environmental engineering of lakes and rivers will be suitable for me. I have seen the course curriculum as well as elective papers.. it reflects an application of environmental biotechnology. Also it would be very helpful if could gather any information on the placement in this dept. because I am a bit confused..whether it would be a wise decision for an M.Sc. Biotech student.
Waiting for your reply.

Hello Ronit,
You need not worry about placements. IIT Roorkee's tag is good enough for getting jobs in public sector undertakings and consulting firms as well (you will have to search them though). An example of a company which hires IITians related to Env. Sciences is: GIST Advisory. It's always your efforts which decided the future of yours. I know some people who are unemployed despite being from IIT Delhi/IIT Bombay. Point is--you will have ample opportunities around; but none will come knocking at your door (you will have to vouch for the right ones at the right time: by being a placement committee member, by being proactive in co-curriculars etc). Best part about IITs is the environment you get; the exposure you enjoy. Take it as a learning experience and rest will come to you automatically.
Best wishes
