genetic engineering is a part of biotechnology?
#7
My understanding is that genetic engineering is within the field of Molecular Biology. Molecular Bio focuses on understanding the central dogma and all of its related applications. This would include genetic engineering as one of those applications.

As we know, Biotechnology is highly interdisciplinary. It integrates biological sciences and fields of engineering. Genetic engineering would indeed be apart of a Biotechnology curriculum along with other biology/chemical engineering courses.

You could also look into programs focused on Molecular Biology. These will not include engineering coursework but will most definitely have tracks focused on genetic engineering/rDNA.
