I am happy that the responses helped you to some extent. Let me address your queries one by one:
1. what are the job opportunities she should avail after completing her M.Tech in bio technology from NIT Rourkela in June 2016?
I would like to know her expertise (reflected by her project profiles in B.Tech and M.Tech) and the courses (subjects) she pursued in M.Tech. Masters being a specialization, job profiles tend to be specific to the expertise of the candidate.
Based upon her expertise, she can land up in following domains:
a). Quality control engineer in Pharmaceutical companies like Biocon, Wockhardt, Panacea. MNCs in F&B like Nestle can also be potential job zones.
b). Associate consultant in Life Sciences domain of big IT companies like Wipro, TCS, IBM, Accenture, Infosys etc.
c). Research Associate in govt Institutes like CSIR labs, IITs.
d). Research Associate/Production engineer in CRAMS like Premas (Gurgaon).
e). Contractual jobs in DBT/other govt sectors like Ganga action plan.
f). Jobs in WHO, UNICEF (based on availability).
2. which companies are relevant for her with M.Tech degree?
Again, her academic profile will assist in responding more specifically, but most of the opportunities and corresponding companies are mentioned in my response to your 1st question.
3. How to apply or which are the exams?
a. First of all subscribe for the employment newspaper (rendered once in a week by the local newspaper vendors across India). It's going to help you/your daughter keep track of "all government jobs in Biotech and related sectors.
b. Campus placement always remains the best option to get into a good company.
c. CSIR labs and IITs release the information of the positions for RAship on their websites only. Positions are offered many times a year.
d. For off-campus placement in MNCs, look for a referral first (referred candidates are often preferred in MNCs). Other option remains applying in their job board/career section. MNCs also release walkin opportunities, which needs an alert vigilance of their career portal.
e. Biocon and Syngene organize quite a number of walkins. And their job portal remains flooded with career opportunities for deserving candidates.
f. Except for the govt jobs, there aren't any entrance exams. The screening tests do happen, which is followed in almost every firm for recruitment.
g. There are some HRs actively looking for good candidates on LinkedIn. Ask your daughter to maintain a good profile at LinkedIn, which is considered an online resume these days.
h. Companies like PREMAS can directly be approached through email/telephone about vacancies.
i. WHO, UNICEF, UNDP have active job portals, but very few are aware of them. Explore them well, and you might find some suitable contractual job for your daughter for a life time of experience.
4. Is NET also ok and applicable ?
NET is a must for a teaching position in colleges these days. It also boosts the chances of getting an RAship/PhD in India.
I hope these points help you/your daughter to some extent.
Feel free to clear any other doubt.
Best wishes
Sunil
