Biometric passport is the new identification of technologically sound world.
#5
Informative post shared here. Biometric passport has intricately designed passport pages, complex watermarks and data chips. This chip contains crucial information such as digital signature data, which helps in authenticating passport.Biometric consider more reliable and personal than a passport photo,as it uses personal trait such as facial or eye maps and fingerprint as primary identification features.

Is it sort of smart card? What is difference in e-passport and smart card from biometrics point of view?

In my personal view, Biometric term in itself means "Measures of Biological Paramters". So any smart card/ passport / password / bank account / aadhar card (Unique IDs) that claim to be Biometric cards/Passwords/and so on; actually signify the fact that their security measures involve coding/storing and verification of Biometric data (i.e Biological data of the user: viz his iris scan/finger prints/DNA fingerprint etc).
