Hi Shilpa,

For written test for IIT Kanpur would focus on basic elementary Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths). In general, their focus remains towards judging the general and basic scientific aptitude of students in written.

For interview, as I mentioned in my previous posts, you should be thoroughly focussed on:
a) Your project
b) Prepare a Subject of your interest (they mostly ask you about your favorite subject and then drill you on the same).
c) Be sure about the type of project/faculty you would like to work with. And thoroughly study the faculty profile of the BSBE department.
Above all, stay cool and confident during your interview. Go for it with the attitude that it's not the end of the world, you just have to showcase your skills truly. Donot sit silent over a question for long, if you don't know the answer, just humbly let them know about it.

Hello sir,

Hi Shilpa,

As I suggest in most of my posts, one shouldn't worry about or take for granted, the admission process because of his/her GATE score/rank/percentile. Once you have got the call for screening, you have equal chances of selection as does a Rank 1 holder.

Give your best in written and interview. You will make it through.

I won't shy away in citing my own example here: I had an AIR 44 and percentile 99.6. I had cleared the written test as well. But I spoiled the interview and thus wasn't selected at IIT Kanpur.

So, I hope it helps you to have a positive perspective about selection process.

Best wishes

Sunil

Hello Shilpa,

As per my own experience and that of my juniors, IITD usually conducts screening in June 1st week and displays list of shortlisted students for screening in May last weeks. IIT Madras generally displays list in 1st 10 days of May and screening is conducted in May last weeks.

IIT Kharagpur's list should be out in 1st of May as well.

For Guwahati, I will need to check my mails (right now I'm not certain of when did they display the list). Will revert back in the evening.

Best wishes
