Hi Nagendar,

M.Tech in Bioinformatics is a good course, but placement prospects of MNIT Bhopal (for M.Tech candidates) aren't great. If you have some other option then I would suggest you to pursue that. Also, if you think that cracking GATE next year is possible, then better drop a year (meanwhile join some institute(s) for internships/assistantships) and aim for some IIT.

Bioinformatics itself is one of the hottest areas of job opportunity after Bioprocess. But for getting a good job, you will have to take care of 2 things:
a) A good institute
b) A very good performance (academic and co-curricular)

Hope it helps

Best wishes

Hi Nagendar,

IIIT Allahabad is good (not better than IIIT Hyderabad) for Bioinfo.

If you have an opportunity in IIIT Hyd then prefer the same.

Yes, you may expect better 'corporate placements' with M.Tech in Bioinfo (it opens you up for IT sector to some extent as well). But it would close the opportunities in Bioprocess/Pharma industry.

Goes without saying that your academic and co-curricular performance has a strong bearing on your career.

Hope it helps

Best wishes
