Why is DY Patil Vidyapeeth so reputed?
#1
Hey everyone,

A lot of people seem to think very highly of DY Patil's biotech program, I don't understand why. It is after all a deemed university.
I'm still college hunting, I've applied for Amity Mumbai and Noida, and DY Patil. Unfortunately I can't appear for both DY Patil and Amity Noida, but I definitely prefer studying in Noida. I don't see why Amity gets a bad rep either, a lot of its faculty comes from institutes most students worship.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi,

The difference may be attributed to the relatively long history of DY Patil group of institutes (which dates back to 1984)..it has developed a sense of branding for itself, which Amity and other private institutes would take time to carve.

Hi Prince,

If you wish to go for Private University, VIT, BVP, Thapar, BITS are much better choices both in terms of overall reputation, legacy and placements.

Thankyou for the reply sir but VIT and BITS PILANI have closed their admissions, THAPAR university requires AIPMT 2015 marks which as you know has been cancelled and BVP does not offer b tech biotechnology. SO any other university you can suggest ? i would check them too. sir what do you think about amity unversity ,i have applied in that university and looking forword to attend the counselling.
thank you

Hello Prince,

Not many colleges in India offer B.Tech Biotech. IPU (Indraprastha University) could be another target but that again requires CET (suggest you to go through the details though).

The fact, that you are looking forward to admission to Btech without entrance test, leaves you with limited options; amongst which Amity and LPU are both good/equal (in terms of placement). You may go for Amity but if it's possible then work on competitive exams for getting admission to a better college next year (you can do so after getting admission to a college as well).

Best wishes

Hi Garima,

BHMS and BAMS are more about 'independent practice' careers. You can easily set-up a clinic for yourself and start earning from day-1 after your degree. You can get opportunity in a government hospital as well.

Right now, in India, BHMS and BAMS are more career oriented than BTech Biotech (from a below average college). Kurukshetra University is average on Placement aspects for Biotech people. The matter of fact is that 'currently there's tough competition for jobs' and thus you will have to  make your best effort in Academics and Co-curriculars (and command over english) to fetch a 'decent' job.

It is always good to prefer a govt college over private (in India), because of the prevalent trend of favoring the popular/established names. In those terms, KU is much better than any private college.

If your aspirations for a good career in Biological sciences aren't inclined much towards research/corporate world; then 'on earning point of view' I would suggest you to go for BAMS/BHMS.

Hope it helps

Hi Garima,

You dont need to set up a hospital after BAMS/BHMS. If you have a space to open your clinic, it would be more than sufficient to kick start your career. These days BHMS (HOMEOPATHY) doctors charge minimum Rs 100/- per patient. On an average day, its not uncommon to get 10-15 patients.

If you practice nicely, there wont be a limit on your career.

About KU, its not a below average university. It is indeed a good universi ty, but when it comes to getting job after BTech (in Biotech field), most companies prefer students from Class A colleges (IITs, IISc, IIITs, NITs etc) for core technical roles. Other colleges usually get companies related to either non-core jobs (like KPOs, BPOs, Sales, Support staff) or IT jobs. Such jobs can fetch you at max 20K a month or lower as a fresher.

Or you can go for MTech and PhD to enter academics and research, which can ultimately pay you better.
