Dear sir,



I am a 1st yr. student pursuing btech biotech.I want to know eligibility criteria and procedure for applying in IIT guwahati for summer training.Though I have searched for this on internet but i want to know how can i be selected for the same.What are the things i should pay attention on to get around 90% surity for selection.please help me.

Here are the details of Summer Internship at IIT Guwahati:

The department offers Summer Training in multidisciplinary areas of biotechnology to both undergraduate & graduate students of science & engineering disciplines. The major thrust of the department includes biochemical engineering, plant biotechnology, nanobiotechnology, protein biophysics & proteomics, industrial biotechnology & bioengineering, in addition to providing state of the art facilities in these core areas. The department also has in-house activities related to animal cell-culture facility for screening bioactive compounds with therapeutic applications and a plant tissue culture facility for mass multiplication.
The Department offers training to the external students only during summer vacation from May to July every year for a duration of maximum 10 weeks.
Students can work in any of the following areas: 
  • Protein structure, dynamics & aggregation 
  • Molecular biophysics 
  • Protein engineering & protein function 
  • Structural-function-folding relationship 
  • Enzyme and Microbial Technology 
  • Biocatalysis, Biosensor & Biofuel cell 
  • Plant Cell and Tissue Culture 
  • Plant Genetic Engineering 
  • Gene Therapy for Viral and Metabolic Diseases 
  • Biological Control of Insect Pests 
  • Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Carbohydrate Enzymes 
  • Fungal Biotechnology and Bio-pesticides 
  • Molecular Fingerprinting and Expression Systems in Food Grade bacteria 
  • Environmental bioremediation, Bioprocess development (upstream to downstream) 
  • Metabolic Engineering 
  • Stem Cell Biology 
  • Hormone regulated Gene Expression
Students having flair in physical, chemical or life sciences or related engineering disciplines along with a zeal for research in any of the above mentioned thrust areas can approach the respective faculty members via email mentioned in the website. Based on the consent of the respective supervisor only, the trainee shall submit the application form to the respective supervisor in the format given below.

COURSE FEE

A non-refundable Rs. 5000/- (as DD drawn in favour of Registrar, IIT Guwahati) is to be paid by the selected candidate to get admission in the training programme. 

ACCOMMODATION
Accomodation will be provided on request in separate boys/girls hostel at IIT Guwahati subject to availability of the seats. No TA/DA will be provided for joining/leaving the training programme and during the training period. Trainee can make a request for accomodation to respective faculty supervisor.

Yes Priyansha, you will hve to email the faculty you want to work with...
