Biotechnology is the term of combination which includes Technology and Biology. Apart from new innovations and developments, we are also facing problems which vary from health issue to environmental. Today many streams of biology like, Genetics, cell biology, Enzymology, immunology, microbiology, nanotechnology, biochemistry etc. are developing along with use of various technologies and subjects like, computer science, electronics, physics, chemistry, engineering etc.
Today we very well know that various types of vaccines, pharmaceutical drugs, antibodies, organ transplantations, stem cell usage in cancer treatment etc, all are the common application of Biotechnology. Now a day’s various new type of research had already began to treat various diseases and disorders. One example is Tooth decay which occur due to conversing of sugar to lactic acid & is caused by bacteria living on teeth, Now biotechnology had helped organization like ONIBioPharma to developed new strain of bacteria (SMaRT) which helps prevention of decay of teeth for lifetime, another example is Preparation of Asthma sensor developed by University of Pittsburgh , it’s a handheld device of polymer coated carbon nano-tube which senses the amount of NO(Nitric Oxide) produce by lungs prior to asthma attacks, Smart Contact Lens for the patient in avoiding blindness which is developed by Glaucoma, at University of California-Davis These lenses which not only monitor the pressure changes and sending data to computer but also releases the drugs in response to pressure change. Another example of dominance of medical biotechnology is Portable Dialysis device which has helped 15 million adults Americans suffering from kidney problems, Los Angeles-based Xcorporeal can clean blood all the time which is fully automated, battery-operated and less in weight with water proofing. All above are the small applications of biotechnology , millions of funding being provided to this field, Lot of commercial companies are using this field to improve their products.
So future of this field is not restricted to development of any single stream but any development has its contribution in biotechnology.
