Admission to research based program in NUS/NTU

Hello Everyone, I am Ayshwarya, and I passed my B.E mechatronics in 2007 with 87%. I worked in IT for about 4 years and took a break for maternity. I am currently residing in Singapore and teaching part-time for the diploma mechanical students.

I want to take up higher studies now and thinking of applying for the research based programs in NUS/NTU

I am planning to give GRE and TOEFL before November to apply for 2016 August admissions. However I have the following questions. It would be of great help if you could advise on the below

1. Should I have a GATE score as well for this?
2. In NUS website I found that the admission criteria asks for Bachelors with honours degree. Is it same as the bachelors degree with First Class Distinction?
3. Will I have a problem in selling my application because of the break in career?
