I want to be a mad scientist mapping intelligence genes (apparently human genome project in China already beat me to it =\), creating mutant 3 eyed mice (joke) and creating super weight loss supplements THAT ACTUALLY WORK (hehe), there are so many "terms" for genetic engineering, bioengineering etc, so what EXACTLY is this kind of discipline within the field known as?
Do I need to get a 8 year degree or can I "get away" with a bachelors for this kind of work? Could you just take all the relevant classes (chem, bio, physics?), skipping bs filler classes like history and language classes (irrelevant) and get a job with a "loaded" college transcript? I'm 24 here, I don't want to be in college till I'm 32, or start my life off loaded with dummy debt... Trying to figure out how I can "angle" my goals to get me going asap while ensuring I am properly educated. If you stuck me in a chemo class I could tolerate a few years of that kind of relevant studying, but honestly the colleges make you take all these stupid classes so they can loot your wallet, it's really dumb that I have to know about Napoleon to engineer diseases resistant mutant mice?
I'm considering taking my first few years online to "get my grades up" before jumping into a good college, probably in Europe (I live in US, too expensive here). Any college recommendations for European professions in the field? Preferably somewhere foreigner friendly (Like Germany).
Thanks =)

Aspira Scientific is a biopharmaceutical company based in the Bay Area of California and provides research and development solutions for the chemical and biological sectors. Recently, Aspira Scientific launched its highly pure, cost-effective rHSA (recombinant human serum albumin) product. It is manufactured from a proprietary expression technology platform, originating from rice grains (Oryza sativa) and is more than 99 percent devoid of any animal, human, or micro-organism derived components ("xeno-free"). Aspira Scientific's rHSA has the same application fields as plasma-derived human serum albumin (pHSA), but offers a higher purity, more consistent, xeno-free replacement. Moreover, it avoids immunogenicity concerns of rHSA produced in yeast-based expression systems.
About Aspira Scientific
Aspira Scientific empowers scientists to achieve their aspirations in chemical and biological research and development by reducing the costs of basic and applied research. The company leverages a global innovation ecosystem to offer a wide array of next-generation enabling research tools. For organizations with developmental programs and commercial intent, Aspira Scientific provides user-driven services via "Collaborate Locally. Commercialize Globally." model to afford exceptional value in terms of innovation, quality and IP assurance, and cost-efficiency.

Hello,
I wanted to ask if it would be a good idea to study a master's degree in Biotechnology after fulfilling a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology. I am sceptical about it because it may be a waste of time for me since probably a lot of courses in the master's degree may be similar to those I had in the bachelor's degree. Nevertheless, I was considering the master's degree in Biology-Biotechnology by the University of Copenhagen, which is one of the best universities for life sciences in the world. This master's allows you to chose a specialisation in Applied Enzymology, Bio Products, Cell Physiology or Immunology, so it might be a more specific study than just "broad" Biotechnology.
So, would you recommend me to go for that master's (I like it specially because of the University and the country where it is located) or to go for another more specific master's degree (I was considering also Nanobiotechnology in the University of Aalborg)?

Hello
Next academic year I will be finishing my bachelor studies in Biotechnology. I was considering enrolling in a master's degree in Nanobiotechnology at Aalborg University (Denmark), but I was wondering whether it would really be my piece of cake. I have never felt much inclined to work with animals or full organs. It's plain to see that Nanobiotechnology focuses on the nano-scale structures, but if I ever had to research by employing some laboratory animals, though I think in the end I could get to handle it, I wouldn't feel very comfortable (and that's why since the beginning I considered specialising in Industrial or Environmental Biotechnology).
So I would be much obliged if you could tell me whether an expert in Nanobiotechnology has to work very often with animals or if it is merely in incidental events or in any occasion at all.
Thank you very much.

I have had even applied for Central University of Gujarat but its waiting list is awaited, Mean while if I am getting fruitful and good reviews regarding the above mentioned two colleges I could go, reserve my seat and take admission.
Thanks, waiting for fruitful Information.

Hey everybody,
I am trying to aceess the online program RefFinder, to analyse the best reference genes for my RT-qPCR experiment. But the website seems to be off.
Have someone noticed that??
Anther thing is that, I'm trying to download the Bestkeeper algorithm for my reference genes evaluation. But, they ask for some password.
I've already tried to send an email, but they didn't answer.
What should I do?
Does anyone have acceess in the Bestkeeper?

Hello! My name is matt and I'm currently working as a Research Associate for a biotech company in which I do cloning and produce stable cell lines.
My question here is more a logistic one...Do any of you have tips on keeping a log of your frozen cells?
We keep them in the usual 10X10 vial boxes thus far and have a crud Excel template where we "try" to log them.
Now we have a binder on top of the excel sheet but trying to consolodate both has proven really time consuming thus far.
Any advice on how you like to log your frozen cells? Tips on keeping a steamlined system? I'd really just like to get an idea of what other people are doing,
as ours seems somewhat inefficient. Thank you in advance for your help!
Best,
Matt

If M. Tech then do I need to do in any specialization and what is the future after doing M. Tech... What is the placement guarantee?
MBA after B. E..is it advantageous or I should stick to my stream? I really need some help. Would be glad if anyone could help me.
