Tips for Admission in National University of Singapore
#91
Dear sir,

Thank you for your prompt reply. My son is presently in his fourth and final year of B. tech in Pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical Chemistry at Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai and his CGPA is 7.92 till the sixth semester. He sat for his IELTS on 29th August 2015 & awaiting the result. He is appearing for his GRE on 28th October 2015 and GATE on 2016.

My son cleared his X CBSE in 2010 with 97.2%, XII CBSE in 2012 with 94.8%. He is interested in MS in Chemical Engineering or Pharma Tech. by coursework.

My question is whether being a fourth year student he is eligible to apply for August 2016 intake of NUS, as the last date of application probably is in end January 2016 and he will not get his 8th semester grade point at that time and what is his chance of getting admission in NUS?

Thanks & Regards

Dear Ms. Chatterjee,

Yes, your son can apply for the same. NUS is very much aware of Indian System of Education (and others too). They would expect him to submit final marksheets during admission. He should submit the copies of latest marksheets and/or provisional certificates during application submission (and interview), mentioning that the final result is awaited.

His profile is very nice. Good chances of getting a call for the interview.

Best wishes

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your encouraging words. According to your suggestion I am thinking of the possibility of my son applying in NUS for MS in Chemical Engineering by Research Work, which is a M.Eng degree, but not very much sure whether NUS requires any research paper published by the candidate along with the application. Because, as of now, there is no such research paper my son has published. And can you please tell me, other than scholarship what benefit he will get over the Course Work based program.

Thanks & Regards

Hello Mam,
Research publication is not at all an obligation, though it does add an advantage to the profile. What your son can do meanwhile is that he can attend a couple of workshops/ conferences to strengthen his candidature.
Research based programs are different in the sense that a student spends a majority of time/ semesters in the degree course on a Research Project, rather than on subjects/ courses. So, one gets hands on some real world problem rather than just pondering over them in books for most of the time.
Your son has  nice profile. Try to get some nice LORs . He should be able to crack the admission.

If there is anything else you need to inquire about, please feel free.

Best wishes

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your valuable informations. My son will be submitting the application for Masters in Chemical Engineering by Research work in NUS once his GRE test is over. But the problem is, his GRE is on 28th of October 2015, while the deadline for the application is 1st of November 2015. As you know, it takes 10-15 days to declare the official score card by ETS, can he send his scanned copy of unofficial score card from MY GRE ACCOUNT along with the application in the first instance and sending the official score by ETS later on? Or Should we inform the Graduate Admission Department prior hand and seek their permission in doing so. Just don't want to leave any stone unturned.

Can you please help?

Regards

Dear Sunil Sir,
Iam pursuing my b.tech with biotechnology. Iam going to appear in the GATE 2016 and the result of GATE is scheduled on 19th march,2016. But the deadline for submitting the application for August intake is in November, 2015. I will not be able to provide them my GATE score card till that time. So, am I not eligible for the August intake for the phD program?

Hello Roma,

Your CGPA is good to go for NUS and NTU. HKUST is also good to go.

Dear Sunil Nagpal Sir,

Sir, I passed my Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (2009-2013) from a Government College. I secured a CGPA of 8.78. After that I was into job for 2.5 years. I am unaware of whether I will get the experience certificate or not. will that be of any issues? I will appear for GATE 2016. What all point should I keep in mind to get myself in one of the seats of NUS (Direct  PhD preferably or Masters)?

Please help Sir, as this market has been rampaged by Recession to a great extent, I am leaving my job at this juncture.
